| 内容の概要 | This item is a photocopy of a transcript from an anonymous Japanese soldier's diary. The transcript is only a part of the original diary and covers the period from 22 to 28 April 1943. Judging from the inserted note which reads "New Guinea, Mimika County, Kekuwa, 39 years ago", the transcript was made in 1981. The diary describes the discovery of the wreck of an Allied aircraft, the soldiers gathering the remains, burying them, and placing flowers on the grave. The diary also give details on the lives and culture of the local New Guinea natives, and the prices of food and goods in New Guinea. The aircraft described in the diary as A16-128 is actually believed to be the RAAF Hudson A16-169 aircraft. The diary is accompanied by an English translation. |
