内容の概要 | This item is a propaganda leaflet titled "To the soldiers of the Japanese forces". Firstly, it states that from 31 January 1945 the Allies carried out successful attacks over the Marshall Islands with little resistance, and that it was clear that Japan would not fight against the Allied forces with superior air and sea power, until the region near the Japanese mainland was under attack. Secondly, it states that the Japanese Military authorities had removed Ministers for Army and Navy, SUGIYAMA Gen and Nagano Osami from the positions of Chief of Army and Navy General Staffs, because their faulty war plan had resulted in thousands of soldiers either dead or left without supplies in distant locations. Lastly, it points out that the reshuffling of the top positions and the Prime Minister, TÔJÔ Hideki, serving as Chief of Army General Staff, and Minister for the Navy, SHIMADA Shigetarô, serving as Chief of Navy General Staff proved that Japan had no human resources at the time of national crisis. It concludes that Japan had decided to focus on the defence of its main islands and to abandon its forces in the south. |
