Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Cape Dinga near Nassau Bay 15 July 1943. This item contains four files on Allied forces and combat tactics produced between 10 and 30 December 1942: "Lessons from actual combat. Points to be observed during shipping transportation", "Outline of Australian Army tactics in New Guinea area", "Battle instruction", and "Enemy tactics as shown in the battle around Buna". These documents make observations about the Allied military tactics and the calibre of Allied troops and suggest ways in which Japanese strategy could counter them.

This document was translated soon after its capture and reveals Japanese perceptions of Allied fighting tactics
