Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 2nd Lieutenant NISHIO Kiyoshi of the 115th Infantry Regiment 3rd Battalion 11 Company, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 11 March 1943. NISHIO, a 34 year old 2nd Lieutenant from Niigata, was captured by an Australian patrol boat while he and others were drifiting in a collapsible boat after the sinking of Oigawa Maru. NISHIO was a university graduate and taught biology at high school for four years. During the interrogation, NISHIO provided information on his unit's organisation, training, the situation in Rabaul, and morale in Japan. |
