Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private TANAKA Sunao of the 20th Division 80th Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion 4th Company 2nd Platoon, who was captured in Salamaua on 24 August 1943. TANAKA, a 23 year Superior Private from Saga, was exhausted after spending several days in the jungle after he lost touch with other members of his unit, when he was captured by Australian troops. He was a medical orderly. During the interrogation, TANAKA provided information on four Allied prisoners of war whom TANAKA saw in New Guinea.
