Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147480 of the 88th Guard Unit, who was captured on Manus Island while ill with malaria on 28 April 1944. During the interrogation, JA147480 provided information on living conditions in Japan, his attitude towards capture and that he felt that he would be executed if he returned to Japan, his attitude towards the war generally, his attitude towards other races and the treatment of the New Guineans, that he had never seen Allied leaflet propaganda, and the sinking of Mikage Maru in February 1943. |
