Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Medical Captain NISHIO Shirô of the 51st Independent Engineer Regiment, who was captured in Tufi on 13 April 1943. NISHIO, a 33 year old Medical Captain from Tokyo, was captured by Australian troops when he landed on the island after his boat, Shinai Maru, sank. During the interrogation, NISHIO provided information on medical services and medicine. Initially, NISHIO gave a false name at the interrogations. A translation of his letter which states his last thoughts to his wife is included in the report.
