Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Biak on 23 July 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is an extract from a file entitled "Transport ship numbers", dated January to 14 September 1943 belonging to 47 Anchorage Headquarters, Kaimana Branch Office. It contains a list of approximately 1,200 vessels of between 20 and 500 tonnes attached to Marine Transport Association and Sailboat Association, giving district, name and number, tonnage and owner. It also includes a list of ships assigned to the Japanese Army, released ships and foreign trade ships owned by the Department of Communication.

This item includes the names of 164 ships not listed in EP-218.
