Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private DEBA Tokimi of the 41st Infantry Regimental Headquarters, who was captured in Giruwa on 2 April 1943. DEBA, a 25 year old Superior Private from Hiroshima, was wounded and fled into the jungle in January 1943. He survived in the jungle with whatever he could eat and later with canned food left by US troops until he was captured by local people. During the interrogation, DEBA provided information on the unit organisation, conditions in Japan, and attitudes towards capture.
