Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet reports the surrender of Germany in Europe and blames the military rule in Germany for the war in Europe. The message states that the German soldiers, who preserved their lives as POWs, can now return home and start a new life. At the same time, it emphasises that the Allies can now concentrate on the war against the military clique in Japan. 200,000 of them were printed. 124,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Morotai between 9 and 17 March 1945, 30,000 to Hollandia on 9 March 1945, 52,000 to Torokina on 12 March 1945, 32,000 to Nadzab on 12 March 1945, 120,000 to Darwin between 12 and 26 March 1945 and 40,000 to Mindoro on 15 April 1945. |
