Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private YAMAMOTO Kiyoshi of Yamanaka Unit 3rd Battalion 7th Company Tsuchida Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured in Gorari on 9 November 1942. YAMAMOTO, a 30 year old from Nara, landed at Buna in early September 1942, but taken to hospital as he was suffering from malaria. He left hospital after a month and marched towards the Owen Stanley Range. He was asleep suffering a malarial attack when he was captured. In the interrogation sessions, YAMAMOTO provided information on his movements, unit organisation, rations, medical treatment for malaria and his view on being captured. A diagram of his unit was included in the appendix.
