Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Mission Point during the Japanese retreat from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. This item is a training manual entitled "A study of jungle combat - part 2", published in April 1943 by Kawa 3565 Force (238th Infantry Regiment, 41st Division). It contains a hypothetical attack on enemy positions in the Wewak vicinity and discusses offensive tactics and reconnaissance measures. The manual also requested that a plan for firing grenade dischargers from a horizontal position be investigated.
