Content: This item contains information on foreign nationals under the control of the South East Area Army at the time of the Japanese surrender. Attached lists provide information on POWs who had been held by the Army since March 1943. Separate lists are made for POWs who were in the Rabaul area, who had been transferred to Japan, who had died of illness, who had been killed by bombardment, who had been transferred to the navy, who had been transferred from other areas. Personal details, such as name, nationality, unit, rank and age, are included together with the place and date of capture. The cause of death is specified in the lists of deceased POWs.
