Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Sailor OMINE Yoshimasa of Yayoi, who was captured on Normanby Island on 23 September 1942. OMINE, a 22 year old 1st Class Sailor, was badly burnt at the time of capture and did not state where he was from. He confirmed the major points of information obtained by other prisoners of war regarding the movements of Yayoi. As a gunner, OMINE described in detail the 12 cm gun on Yayoi. He also indicated that 15–16 men were on look-out duty during the day and about half of that number at night.
