| Content: | This item is an interim report of a survey on proposed camp sites in the Rabaul area. Matters discussed include geographical features, water supply, food production, construction procedures and gradual movements of troops to the camp sites. It conveys the Japanese forces' proposal to extend the Rabaul camp site in the direction of Mandores, and their request for facilities to secure adequate water supply. The Japanese forces envisaged that the construction of camps would take considerable time and major changes to the existing system of self-sufficiency would be inevitable. |
