| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private JA145697 of the 20th Engineer Regiment 2nd Company 2nd Platoon, who was captured near Sio on 10 February 1944. JA145697, a 28 year old Superior Private from Osaka, was ill with malaria and wandering in the jungle after becoming separated from his unit when he was captured by ANGAU (Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit) troops. During the interrogation, JA145697 provided information on unit organisation, movements, road construction in the Bogia area, low morale as he was abandoned by his unit due to his illness, and medical treatment for sick soldiers. |
