Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Seaman SAKAKI Minoru of the Kure 5th Special Naval Landing Party (Hayashi Unit) 2nd Company 3rd Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured in Milne Bay on 6 September 1942. SAKAKI was a 37 year old from Yamaguchi. He was on board Nankai Maru and landed at Milne Bay with 400 men of the Hayashi Unit on 26 August 1942. He was captured near where he had landed, as he lost his unit due to a bad foot. During the interrogation, SAKAKI talked about the operation at Milne Bay, and also the daily meals which the soldiers were provided. The report includes an organisational chart of the Hayashi Unit. He was interrogated twice on 10 and 15 September 1942.
