Content: This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet concerns the overpopulation issue that is often cited as a reason for expanding the territory of Japan. The message stresses that Japan still has enough space to accommodate a few million more people and a vast amount of arable land. According to the leaflet, the real problem is a lack of manpower to cultivate the agricultural land to alleviate the current food shortage. The message concludes, criticising the military clique who wasted a large amount of national wealth like bathwater rather than investing in the development of rural and industrial bases to support the Japanese population. 50,000 of them were printed.
