Content: | This item is a Japanese-language leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office at the end of the Pacific War. The leaflet reports the surrender of Japan and asks the Japanese troops to cease hostilities and to remain in present positions. The message also informs that there will be a conference between the Japanese commander on Bougainville and the representative(s) of Lieutenant General Savige, Commander of the 2nd Australian Corps. The Japanese troops on Bougainville were to be told by their own commanders what to do after the conference. The leaflet also advises the Japanese of the three locations where Australian officers will be stationed so as to receive any emissary from the Japanese Commander in the area. |
