Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147528 of the 4th Sea Transport Unit, who was captured at Sentani on 29 April 1944. JA147528, a 23 year old civilian fisherman from Tokushima Prefecture, surrendered to US troops after retreating from Hollandia to the Sentani airfield. During the interrogation, JA147528 provided information on wartime commercial fishing conditions, the Japanese merchant marine, general information about the routes sailed between Japan and Hollandia, coastal defences in the Philippines, minefields at Wasile Bay in Halmahera, Manila Bay and Davao, the location of Japanese Naval Headquarters, shipping movements, and instructions to ram if attacked by Allied submarines. |
