Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Warrant Officer MATSUSHIMA Hichihei of the 155th Infantry Regiment 3rd Battalion 12th Company, who was captured in the Bismarck Sea off Goodenough Island on 8 March 1943. MATSUSHIMA, a 43 year old Warrant Officer from Yokohama, was captured by the locals when his rescue boat was attacked and sunk after the sinking of Teiyô Maru on 3 March 1943. MATSUSHIMA joined the army at the age of 17 and had 20 years of service. During the interrogation, MATSUSHIMA provided extensive information on hiunit organisation, officers' names, equipment, weapons, and recuitment and training.
