Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Humbolt Bay (near Hollandia) on 2 May 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item contains a report entitled "Military police intelligence reports", dated 5 December 1943 to 3 March 1944. It contains information about Japanese interaction with the native population, reports of a "native mystic cult", a sketch of the upper areas of the Sepik River, and details of Allied propaganda tactics, including an Australian leaflet.
