Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Morotai on 31 October 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a flight logbook, dated 1 March 1943 to 24 October 1944, taken from an aircraft shot down over Morotai and kept by Superior Petty Officer (Flying) KOMACHI. It details hours flown in various types of aircraft, types of flight, a summary of operations carried out between 1 March 1943 and 24 October 1944, and in several cases the log gives actual combat results or place of take-off and landing. |
