Content: | This item contains a register of deaths from the 78th Infantry Regiment, and several lists of casualties from the 20th Division who are to be evacuated by ship to hospitals in safe areas; both in Asia and mainland Japan. The deaths register lists the name, rank, place and nature of death for each deceased soldier. The casualty lists list the rank, unit and specific illness/injury suffered by each soldier (with the majority of casualties suffering from malaria), as well as directions concerning the route and destination of the transport ships evacuating them. At the back of the register are various appendixes with instructions for the wording and dispatch of service records for deceased soldiers. The record is stamped throughout by a Deputy Officer SAKUMA Susumu from Unit 2053. It was captured at Anamo in July 1944. |
