Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Simbang on 4 October 1943 during the Huon Peninsula campaigns and the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Range. This item contains notes and intelligence reports on operations, reconnaissance, airfield construction and road construction in Wau, Mubo, Markham River, Ramu River, Bogadjim, Bena Bena and Madang between April and August 1943. It contains information on rations and supplies, armaments and equipment, actions and engagements in April and May, intelligence and security, prisoners of war, executions, military government and reports on the progress of the war in Europe and the Pacific. It also describes the treatment of the native population and the interrogation of Allied prisoners of war.
