Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private TANAKA Sueyo of the 170th Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion 2nd Company 2nd Platoon 4th Section, who was captured in Giruwa on 26 January 1943. TANAKA, a 30 year old Superior Private from Hyôgo, was captured by US troops after hiding in the jungle for a week after the fall of Giruwa, before he was discovered and captured. He was a "manzai" performer (story-teller/comedian) in the Kansai area. He was interviewed six months after his capture. During the interrogation, TANAKA provided information on the unit organisation and its operations, supplies, and morale in Japan. |
