| Content: | This item consists of a statement made by the commander of the 18th Army, Lieutenant General ADACHI Hatazô, addressed to the commander of the 8th Area Army, General IMAMURA Hitoshi. The statement was made in the post-war period. It was dated 23 September 1947, but was written prior to the death of ADACHI on 10 September 1943 in his prison cell at Rabaul where he was serving a life sentence for war crimes. |
