Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Corporal OKABE Akimitsu of the 115th Regiment Headquarters Signals Company 1st Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured in Tufi on 9 March 1943. His section was in charge of cable laying. OKABE Akimitsu, a 29 year old Corporal from Gunma, was drifting in a collapsible lifeboat after abandoning Oikawa Maru when he was captured by a US minesweeper. YAMADA Noboru (Serial no. 173) was in the same boat when OKABE was captured. During the interrogation, OKABE provided information on his unit's organisation, equipment for the Signals Company, his training in signals, and morale in Japan. |
