Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Hollandia on 22 September 1944 during the Allied attacks of Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is from a file entitled "Epidemic prevention reports no. 1–5", issued between 28 December 1942 and 12 May 1943 by the 8th Area Army Medical Department, and compiled in 1943 by MO 11400 Force, Matsu Unit, Medical Section. It contains statistics on the incidence of typhoid, para-typhoid, dysentery and malaria in New Britain, and smallpox, cholera, typhus and plague in Japan, China and Burma. |
