Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant KONDÔ Yuzo of the Medical Unit, who was captured near Basa on 11 December 1942. KONDÔ, a 25 year old Sergeant from Hiroshima, was asleep in the jungle when he was captured by Australian troops. He was a member of a small medical unit of five members with no unit name or number. During the interrogation, KONDÔ provided information on unit movements, medical services and medications he handled. The name KONDÔ Yuzo was often given by Japanese prisoners of war as their false name. It is not clear whether this was his real name. |
