Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Komiatum on 19 August 1943 during the Japanese retreat from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Range. This item is a handbook entitled "Questions and answers on attacks against pillboxes" and contains information on the construction and characteristics of various types of pillboxes, preliminary reconnaissance and attack formations, explosives and engineering equipment. The handbook makes particular reference to Soviet methods of pillbox construction methods. This item contains many diagrams and sketches of pillboxes, trenches, mines and other defensive fortifications.
