Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet was issued after the defeat of Japanese forces at Sanananda on 22 January 1943. The leaflet reproduces a letter allegedly written by a member of a Japanese Road Construction Unit deployed in the area. The author of the letter laments that his commanding officers abandoned the unit and fled by barge after the defeat. The leaflet warns the Japanese that such actions are not isolated, and that officers are not concerned with the plight of other ranks. |
