Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Leading Seaman YAMAMOTO Kazuji of Aiyô Maru, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 12 March 1943. YAMAMOTO, a 23 year old Leading Seaman from Hyogo, was severely exhausted after drifting in a collapsible boat for several days. He did not resist when he was captured by US troops. YAMAMOTO was a flag signaller on Aiyô Maru. During the interrogation, YAMAMOTO provided information on Aiyô Maru and Yahata Maru, the convoy which had left Rabaul to Lae in March 1943, Allied attacks, and Japanese defences. |
