Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for rank SUDÔ Saburô of the 51st Division 51st Engineer Regiment 1st Company 4th Platoon, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 9 March 1943. SUDÔ, a 26 year old 2nd Lieutenant from Tokyo, was captured by Australian troops when he landed on Goodenough Island after the sinking of Shinai Maru on 3 March 1943. During the interrogation, SUDÔ provided information on his unit's organisation, operations in China and New Guinea, work related to the Engineer Regiment, and an extensive description of morale and the economic situation in Japan.
