Content: These records consist of war diaries, memoirs and operations reports of Japanese army campaigns in Malaya and Java. They either survived the post-war campaign of destruction of official documents or were compiled in the immediate post-war period by the Japanese Demobilisation Ministry. Approx. 479 records have been identified as relating to campaigns against Australian troops. They include war diaries and operations reportsd for the 5th and 18th divisions of the 2nd Army in Malaysia and Singapore, and memoirs by Lt Gen MUDAGUCHI, commander of the 18th Division.
