Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Roosevelt Ridge overlooking Tambu Bay on 14 August 1943. This item is part one of a manual issued by the Army Infantry School in Naka, Japan on infantry field fortifications and the "nature of fortifications and basic operations". It contains information on basic operations, camouflage and dummy work, anti-tank obstacles, wire entanglements, land mines, drainage, and the construction of shelters for weapons, ammunition, troops, communications and observation posts. This item also contains diagrams and photographs throughout.
