| Content: | This item is a duty roster chart from 1942 or 1943. Judging from the names that appear on the chart, it was made for the 238th Infantry Gun Detachment. The chart is filled in with a special code, with different colours and symbols signifying the nature and length of duty for the 115 soldiers named. Some of the names have red lines drawn through them, perhaps indicating hospitalisation or death, and some of the unit were apparently left behind at Palau, although whether this was due to injury or some other reason is uncertain. Two soldiers are also noted at the end of the chart as having been transferred to other units. This item was captured at Finschhafen in April 1944. |
