Content: | This item consists of separate reports on the operation of the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 14th Working Groups, which were engaged in the construction work assigned by the Australian forces. These working groups comprised of workers recruited from different Japanese camps. Matters discussed include the treatment of Japanese workers by the Australians, suitability of work load and work schedule, number of workers recruited, provisions for the working groups, changes and transfers of workers, treatment of invalid workers, etc. A list of provisions for the working groups, a report on hygiene, a report on the progress of construction and a patient list are also attached. The majority of workers in need of medical attention were suffering from malaria. |
