Content: | This item consists of the personal diary for 1944 of OGAWA Yoshinobu from Kumamoto prefecture. The contents of the diary is limited to Japan, but provides insight into domestic wartime life. OGAWA was conscripted in 1933 and served in the 102nd Infantry Division which was raised in Kumamoto. The diary contains 189 pages of tables and charts detailing numerous aspects of Japanese life and history, including demographics, military affairs, politics and bureaucracy, religion and education, business, laws, taxes and the postal system. It was probably captured in the Philippines in late 1944 or early 1945. |
