Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private ATSUMI Tamotsu of the 21st Independent Mix Brigade 2nd Company 1st Platoon, who was captured in the Trobriand Islands on 21 March 1943 after his boat, Oigawa Maru, was sunk in Dampier Strait. ATSUMI, a 24 year old Superior Private from Aichi, was captured by Australian troops when he was going to another island in the Trobriands. During the interrogation, ATSUMI initially gave a false name, MASE Tamotsu, but later provided information on the unit organisation, artillery guns, Hamamatsu Army Air Training School, and the situation in Japan. |
