| Content: | This item is a photocopy of a military pocket book that belonged to a Superior Private HIGASA, from the 54th Infantry Regiment of the 17th Division. It contains printed copies of the Imperial Rescript on the Armed Forces, and several sets of rules and guidelines concerning soldier behaviour and morale. The back pages of the pocket book contain Pte HIGASA's private notes on his military career, including his recruitment to the Chûbu 23rd Unit in December 1942 and his service as a military guard in various locations in Jiangsu Province, China. There is also a printed table with spaces for recording salary payments, but these have been left blank. This item was captured at Suluan in July 1944. |
