Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report on the Japanese Army Postal Service. The enquiry was received on 28 August 1943 and an answer despatched on 4 October 1943. The report provides a detailed overview of the Japanese Army Postal Service, including its organisation, classification system, packaging, postal rates, regulations regarding letter writing, restrictions and censorship. It also contains information from prisoners of war on attitudes towards censorship and the mail service. In future, questions on the postal service were to be included in the interrogation of prisoners. |
