Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report on Japanese military police. The enquiry was received on 14 September 1943 and an answer despatched on 7 October 1943. The report contains a range of information about military police, including organisation, duties, counter-espionage duties, duties with regard to native people, combat responsibilities, duties concerning prisoners of war, the scope of their authority and the attitude of regular troops towards military police. An appendix lists the name, division and location of Japanese military police units in Japan, Formosa and Korea. |
