|Content:||This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Maffin on 28 May 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a notebook entitled "Chemical warfare materiel", dated 22 October (year unknown) and belonging to IZAWA Tatsunobu, 3 Section, 1 Company. It contains brief descriptions and sketches of a variety of chemical weaponry, including: gas shells, aerial bombs, incendiary grenades and shells, gas candles, sprayers, gas detectors and decontaminators and protective equipment for personnel and animals.|
