Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147097 of the 1st Independent Mixed Regiment, who was captured at Papitalai, Manus Island, on 9 March 1944. JA147097, a 27 year old Superior Private from Ibaraki Prefecture, surrendered to US troops. JA147097 was uncooperative and the information he provided was considered unreliable. During the interrogation he provided information on living conditions in Japan, the rationing system, taxation, travelling restrictions, public attitudes in Japan about the war, his experience with Allied leaflet propaganda and access to news. |
