|Content:||This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant HOSODA Tetsuo of the Shipping Artillery Regiment, Akatsuki 2954, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 9 March 1943. His boat, Taimei Maru, was sunk on 3 March 1943 and he and other survivors landed on Goodenough Island. HOSODA, a 23 year old Sergeant from Gunma, was wounded and resting in a hut when captured by US troops. The official unit name of Akatsuki 2954 could not be identified by this compiler. During the interrogation, HOSODA provided information on the unit's organisation, artillery weapons on Taimei Maru, the Konoe Field Artillery Regiment which HOSODA had belonged to before being transferred to Akatsuki 2954. He also provided information on morale in Japan.|
|Notes:||Interrogators seemed to have confused "hohei" (Artillery) and "kohei" (Engineers) in the report.|
