Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) supplementary interrogation report for Superior Private AOKI Yoshio of the 50th Independent Artillery Battalion 1st Company 1st Section, who was captured on an island off New Guinea on 6 March 1943. AOKI, a 22 year old Superior Private from Ibaraki, was captured by the US Navy after he and his colleagues attempted to land after drifiting in a rescue boat. His original boat, Teiyo Maru was sunk on 3 March. During the initial interrogation, AOKI provided a false name and address as he did not want his family to know that he was captured. In this supplementary report, he provided information on the strength of various regiments and units of the Japanese Army. |
