Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Maffin on 28 May 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item contains extracts from a manual entitled "Medical information on military operations in the tropics", dated 1 September to 31 December 1942. It describes the main contagious diseases prevalent in Thailand, including a brief history of epidemics in the country, statistics on the percentage of the local populations suffering from the various diseases, and localities in which each disease is most common. |
