| Content: | This item is a chart for the year 1942, evaluating the performance of soldiers from the 238th Infantry Regiment Infantry Gun Detachment while on campaign in Southwest Shanxi Province in China between February and April. This period of the campaign was formally titled "The Second Clearance and Subjugation Strategy, 1941," and involved a number of protracted conflicts in the Qin Yuen district, as well as surveillance activities. Unit members are ranked within their group (e.g., 5th out of 20 members) for each operation. At the bottom of the page, an overall service ranking within the unit is given against each name, along with a point score that reflects the soldier's general performance, and the total number of months served so far on campaign. An appendix at the end of the list gives the total number of participants and casualties, with blank spaces left against the names of soldiers who did not participate in the campaign due to death, illness or injury. This item was captured at Finschhafen in April 1944. |
