Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Lae on 29 September 1943 shortly after the fall of Lae and the beginning of the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Range. This item is part of a training manual (presumably published by the Mito Flying School) concerning armouring procedures for a Type 98 Reconnaissance Airplane and Type 97 and 98 Light Bombers, dated January 1941 and September 1942. It also contains details on Type 94 flexible gun mounts and Type 89 flexible (or fixed) machine-gun ground firing, and flexible machine-gun mounts for Type 98 Light Bombers. The document has numerous sketches and specification details.
